Yeah well...GW randomly reboots my PC. I had thought it was a heat issue...but I get nothing while playing CS:S, Warcraft or any other game for that matter. It would appear that GW simply likes to reboot my PC. That said, you might consider checking on your cooling, probably not very helpful but it's the best I've got.

Already checked it. It reboots my comp like that too. That was the first thing I checked.

I also went to my vid card settings and turned everything to pure performance. In GW I turned the graphics all the way down. I don't get the 5-10 delays but I still get lag. Also takes at least 1 minute for the game to come up from the loading screen when entering a map.

Hate to say it but its good to know I'm not the only one. Sorry you have problems too.

i had one err 7 since the event started and had trouble singing on right after one of the first updates. but no lag in game (i only played pve though). i have a 2 GHz pc with 1GB ram and a cheap 128 MB radeon agp card.

did you check dxdiag.exe for direct x problems? i used to have problems with random restarts of some games when my driver/directx installation was messed up and not all 3 direct x features were enabled.

I noticed the lag after I have been playing "awhile" = wondered if it was "memory leak" instead of where the servers are located?

I am in Florida (east coast USA) and can play fine when I first enter the game - but the lag gets slowly worse the longer I play.

Anyone else notice this - or are you getting consistant lag?

Tbh, I have to say that I have been playing the event totally lag free since it started, and i usually lag quite badly, so I think anet have done better with this event.

It could be that the particular part of the server you play from is suffering overheating issues possibly, due to the amount of people on it, and that may account for heavy lag.

However, if you are experiencing trouble running GW in windowed mode, and switching between programs, dont do it, simple as that.

That isnt an anet lag issue, that is an issue on your computer, most likely a memory usage issue if your computer is freezing, or it could very possibly be a porgram/driver conflict.

I had a strange conflict once between kodak easy share and baldurs gate 2, couldnt run both programs at same time, or i got C++ errors. Could be something the same.

However, GW is a fairly memory intensive game, and running it in windowed mode makes it even more so, hence I suggest closing alot of programs if you plan to use GW like this, or possibly buying more ram.

It is on your side on way or another. Turn off all your pointless background programs. Have Itunes? It runs 2 separate background programs. Run instant messengers? Major resource hogs. Get Trillian or something and consolidate them. Update your videocard drivers. Believe me, there have been updates unless you update them once a month or your card is really old. Defrag the harddrive. Scan your drives for virii and spyware.

What other games do you play?

Twicky:

To me I would run memtest to make sure you don't have a bad stick of ram I deal with PC repairs all freaking day and from what you have said about the system locking up and such. I would say 99% that it is a bad ram. The other 1% could be a driver conflict or IRQ sharing issue. Just because other games and stuff run fine doesn't mean there isn't a problem with your system.

If you built the system yourself then try running one stick of ram if you have two of them. Also make sure they are pushed all the way into the socket. If you didn't built the system yourself then you have bigger problems lol.

That last part was a joke btw.

I only recall seeing an ERR 7 once before and that was months ago. I do lag a bit, but I think it is on my end. I'm running an old 1ghz AMD with 512mb ram and 128mb video. I only play PvE and I too despise going into some of the towns/outposts/cities because of the huge loading time and lag (Droks, Lions Arch and Ascalon are the worst in that order). I do seldomly get into problems when playing my monk because of lag and that is part of the reason why I shy away from that character now.

Come to think of it after reading Mr T Bot's post I should check for updates on my video card and defrag the hard drive.

The last time I reformatted/re-loaded windows something got hosed and I don't have the defrag utility...huh???

That finds out if you have lag to yahoo.com or google.com, and doesn't tell you whether the problem is yours, theirs, or somewhere between. No point in doing that.

I think the event has caused some lag. I was getting error 005s when it tried to connect quite a lot. Also it downloads updates at 2KB/sec and it used to go at 600KB/sec. And there is a 4-5 second delay when it connects.

I've been getting lag like a BIATCH this weekend. My guild won't even gvg because of the high likelyhood of an err7 and the constant rubber banding. Heck, we hardly even did tombs and I was the only person to step into TA.

The servers have been blowing arse lately, and the event is only making it worse...much worse.

I think it was maybe just me who was suffering from lag when 8 error 7's happened in the same match. The lag has been appauling for myself, and just about everyone else I've spoken to, and played with over the weekend. Or at least this is what I gathered when 8 people simultaneously say "whoah RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing lag spike" about 20 times in a 5 minute match

I had lag when people were downloading the 450mb update the other week. I had lag in the first few hours of the NF preview event. Now it's just fine. Basically, lag kicks in when a large amount of players are coming online at the same time (ie. special events), or when there's a lot to download. I got used to it. Now, if you are having lag at other times and it's with GW only, I think you should contact Anet's technical assistance crew; that's what they are there for.

I have lag sometimes, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was at the start of the Nightfall Event. I'm glad the lag is gone now but I hate watching the skill icons load.

Run a tracert in command prompt. ("tracert www.guildwars.com"). That will give you a more accurate description of your timings on the path it follows to their servers. If you get any time-outs, then it's probably the problem of your ISP.

P4 3.2 GHz
512 MB RAM
64 mb GO vid card

No lag, takes a little bit for heavily graphical areas to load and settle, but never more than 30 seconds. And when poppers rear their ugly heads i might get a little lag, but really, I have no problems whatsoever...

I lag as hell too. EU, Slovakia. Athlon XP 2600+, 1GB ddr400, Radeon x1600 Pro 256MB... Fresh install of Windows, fresh install of GW, latest everything, all winxp updates, contacted the GW support, they are telling me there has to ba something with my PC, yea right. I work as a PC technician and web developer so I guess i can take care of my PC. There has to be some problem with anet servers IMHO. I think they simply cant handle so many ppl.. Anyway u guys having problems with err7 and lag try downloading PingPlotter (google.com :P) and try pinging anet server IP

Im not having any lag or err7 at all but i decided to do that just to see what my pings were. With EU mines at 28ms, but the rest just time out.. I didnt get the program though, i used command prompt. So im guessing it either refused the ping or its so bad it couldnt recieve it. Would that be correct?

bizarresk and Aradia Ashkal thanks for the good info. A friend of mine built the comp. I replaced the ram and vid card once I got it. Will be running some test on the ram.

Thanx for the ips for anet's servers will be doing some ping test. I'll post my results later.
